Description:
Tiny olive passerine, fairly compact in appearance, with distinctive face pattern. Greenish upperparts; very plain face, which lacks supercilium and eye-stripe, pale ring around large dark eye, and brilliant yellow to orange crown bordered by black. Juvenile lacks striking crown pattern of adult.
Distribution:
Common resident and altitudinal migrant all across the western Gilgit-Baltistan, except for Baltistan region. Mainly occurs in coniferous forest dominated by spruce, pine, fir and juniper, with well-developed undergrowth and shrubs, up to 3300m.
Behavior:
Forages mostly by clinging and hanging from twigs. Prefers to forage in dense branches, moving up and down vertical twigs; exploits underside of branches more often. Generally adapted to feed on small-sized prey, such as springtails, aphids, small moths and tiny spiders.
